Robert D. DeWitt, age 80, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013.

     Robert was born August 13, 1932 in Joplin, son of the late Ross Bryan DeWitt and Estelle Grace Patterson DeWitt.  He graduated from Joplin High School in 1953, and then joined the United States Air Force where he served in Korea.  He returned to Wichita, Kansas and worked for Boeing for 10 years before moving back to Joplin in 1977 where he worked at Lozier for 10 years until his retirement. He loved spending time with his family, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, gardening, feeding birds, and also enjoyed bowling over the years, and was on the 1970 American Bowling Congress Championship Team.  He grew up a Baptist, and was currently attending 2nd Assembly of God in Joplin.

     In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sisters, Geneva DeWitt and June Aggus, and a brother, Bryon DeWitt.

     He married Opal Mae Greninger on December 26, 1979, she survives.  Additional survivors include his children, Sharon Bratcher of Joplin, Ken Bryant of Springfield, Missouri, Linda Kay Hay of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Ron Greninger of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, 12 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Gene Aggus, several nieces and nephews.

     Graveside services will be Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Ken E. Bryant, Minister officiating.

     The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
